Frequently Asked Questions
We know that there are many questions that pop up when you are thinking about scheduling a session! Here are the most frequently asked questions we get to help you get comfortable prior to your session.
Building Memories:
We pride ourselves in capturing pure, unfiltered moments which show how you love and share joy! So don’t worry about researching the perfect pinterest session – your job is to show up and play! We will take care of the rest.
Location & Timing:
Choosing a location is an important part of planning for your session! If you have a specific location in mind, please let us know! Keep in mind that we will need permission from the owners if your dream location is on private property. If you don’t have a specific idea in mind, we would be happy to make a recommendation based on your session type, personality and style.

As natural light photographers, we love shooting during the golden hour! This means we will typically start shooting 1-2 hours before sunset for best lighting (depending on session length). So please plan accordingly!
Clothing:
We want to capture your unique personality and style! When choosing outfits, please keep in mind these helpful tips:
-
Choose a style for your session. Do you want casual, dressy, or somewhere in between?
-
Be comfortable! We will be moving around -- standing, walking, sitting – so wear something that makes you happy and comfortable.
-
Think coordination not matching. Instead of identical outfits, choose a color palette (3-4 colors) that each person can choose from, making unique variations with layers, textures, accessories, etc. Here is a helpful hint: everyone looks good in tans/creams and jewel colors! Avoid neon colors and logos! This is where Pinterest can be helpful for inspiration!
-
Add layers! Jackets, sweaters, scarves, necklaces, hats, etc. This gives you multiple posing and styling options. These are also great opportunities to add in accent colors!
Working with Children:
We understand that kids will be kids! No need to worry about them being on their “best behavior”. We want to capture their true expressions and personalities! We will help keep things light and fun! So feel free to relax and play!
-
Keep in mind that bribery works for photos for little ones – and adults too! Feel free to bring treats, stuffed animals, etc to reward good behavior during our session!
-
Playing together is the best way to capture those candid moments! Feel free to bring a game or an activity (ex. bubbles) to do together! Need some ideas? We would love to share what we have found to be successful over the years!
Meaningful Props:
Instruments, sports equipment, class rings, balloons, flowers, pets – all of these can add a lot of what makes you YOU to your session! Just be sure to tell us ahead of time so we can come up with a great way to include them in your shoot.
